What an amazing restaurant with wonderful staff. I have been planning to go here for a while now, but I always line up my time passing through Tucson to be off. I was able to practice my very out-of-date highschool francais, and they were courteous to bear with me, haha. The food was delicious and up to par with the West African food my friends from Ghana and the Cote d'Ivoire have shared with me. Thank you!

Is this was my first time trying African food. The food was amazing, fresh and flavorful. I had the Tchep Djen, all of the flavors complement each other well. The plantains were delicious. The ginger juice is a must try, not too strong not too sweet it was just perfect. I will be stopping here often now to grab a glass on my way to work. If you would like authentic African cuisine you must try this restaurant.

Tentative to a second visit and hopefully more love from our local community, the flavors and the kindness of the service deserve a 5 star rating. The flavors of the Goat Soup and Sauce d'arachide paired with authentic Fufu were out of this world! Unfortunately i did not care for the Egusi but i wont let that ruin the experience. Will definitely be back!

The Alafia restaurant is one of the few African restaurants in Tucson The restaurant serves West African style dishes The menu consist of rice, fish and goats thene dishes it appears the FuFu with EGUSI soup is the best seller. I enjoyed eating the goats soup which consist of tenderized lab that was not too spicy. I also bought tilapia fish with planting and at the Senegal tile JOLLOF rice I would suggest you plan your trip there as it could get pretty busy, but the service is excellent and the food is delicious, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for African food in Tucson. I gave it a 4.7 star.

First time eating at Alaifa, after craving African cuisine, for some time. I got there right after it opened and had my choice of seating. I ordered the lunch special red sauce with rice and chicken (kedjenou) and ate that there, plus I got a togo order of jollof rice and chicken. The Kedjenou was flat out delicious. The chicken came embedded in the red sauce, and the rice was on a side plate. Both of them were piping hot and full of flavor. Also, the hot sauce I got not only added a little heat to the dish, but it added flavor. I can't wait to go back again to try another dish and recommend Alaifa to anyone wanting a nice West African dish.

The food was super delicious and super large portions. Goat soup had an addictive flavor that kept me coming back til the last drop. Tilapia and plantains were a pleasant surprise of sweetness from plantain and saltiness from the fish. Atmosphere was laid back and friendly. Made you feel like a neighbor dropping in for a meal. Customer service was great. Would go again!

This might be one of the best restaurants in Tucson. The egusi with goat and fufu is an all timer, the meat is so deliciously tender and just the thought of the fufu is making my mouth water. I also tried the sauce d’arachide (the peanut sauce), also with goat, and it might be even better. Couldn’t ask for better service either, it feels like being in a family member’s kitchen, chill vibes and a cool escape. I will be back!

I had an amazing experience at this gem of a restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious—easily some of the best I’ve ever had. The egusi soup was a standout, rich and flavorful, and the okra soup paired perfectly with the plantains and fufu. Every bite was perfection. The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. With so few West African restaurants in Tucson, I’m thrilled to have this place to enjoy authentic dishes. I’ll definitely be returning soon to try more of their incredible menu. Highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious West African cuisine!
